This  18"  QUATTROPORT  was the first exploration into how much of the side of a guitar cold be removed without sacrifice of normal acoustic sound output

QUATTROPORT  stands for sound hole 
configuration.  In this case it is 3+1.

As you might assume, there is considerable side sound projection.  But there is also a normal front sound projection as well.  The front sound hole is diagonal for favorable bass to treble construction of the soundboard.
